1. Viscosity retention at different temperatures. A good lubricant for automotive bearings should not be used in cold weather.

2. The type of additives. Greases must contain preservatives (to maintain their properties over time), anti-corrosion and extreme pressure additives. Lubricants must be water resistant.

3. Dropping Point. This is a measure of the temperature at which the lubricant to start dripping.

4. Chemical resistance. Lubricants for automotive generator bearings must be chemically stable.

Therefore, when choosing how to fill bearings, a lithium-based product using a polyurea thickener of viscosity grade NLGI-2 should be considered.
